ePortfolio

Jigsaw pieces (from scottish-rscs.org.uk)

So I have added a new link to the site, as you can see...right up there, that's it: "ePortfolio." This was an assignment but I also saw it as a chance to present myself in a way that I hadn't previously. I have been all wrapped up in trying to figure out a way to roll out an ePortfolio system that it hadn't occurred to me to make one of my own.

Obviously it was a good opportunity to update my resume, but it also forced to really reflect on my past two years of studies in light of the ITSE standards. The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) together with the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) developed standards for Technology Leaders and Facilitators that I hold very close to my heart. I have felt that my education and career path are guiding me along understanding and internalizing both of these sets of standards.

I suppose ePortfolios will be more and more important as today's younger generation begins to enter the workforce and employers realize that there is much more to any given person than what you can fit on a piece of paper. ePortfolios are living, breathing rich multimedia documents. The idea of having a living portfolio of you resume, skills, experiences, and a trophy case of accomplishments that you are proud of appeals to me since (at least speaking for myself) I can see my own growth here and how much I have learned.
